Neutering the Male Cat Neutering a male cat reduces the chance of behaviors that are unacceptable as house pets:
Neutering of a male cat is one of the simplest surgical procedures in veterinary medicine. The cat is fasted overnight so anesthesia can be done on an empty stomach. There is a small incision made over each testicle. The testicles are brought out of the scrotum and the cords are pulled free of each other. Once the cords are separated, they are tied to each other and the testicle is cut free. The skin incision is small enough, it requires no skin sutures. The recovery period is minimal.
Discharge for these patients is the same day. Small amount of swelling
might be noted, and is a normal part of recovery. Fundy Veterinarians Limited -
