Transitioning Feline Dry Food Addicts to Wet Food

Wet food is starting to become the recommended diet for our feline friends instead of dry foods; some reasons include the type of protein being used in the diet, the carbohydrate levels are too high and that the water content is too low in dry foods.

If you’re interested in changing your feline’s diet from dry to wet it’s best to do it when they are healthy. Having a sick cat and trying to change their diet will most likely go wrong. The cat will associate the new food to feeling ill which in the long run will turn them off all wet food as they’ll think it will make them feel bad.

While transitioning your cat to canned food you can increase their water intake by using flavored water.
You can to this by making tuna water, using low fat chicken or beef broth, clam juice or lactose free cat milk.

Be cautious as to not just plunk the food down and expect them to eat it; changing their diet will take time and patience. Also ensure that they are eating as if a cat doesn’t eat there could be serious consequences .
