Petra grew up in Shubenacadie on a dairy farm. She attended the Nova Scotia Agricultural College before going to the Atlantic Veterinary College, where she graduated in 1997.

She worked briefly for Fundy Veterinarians after graduation, before going to Newry, Ontario, for a year to work in a mixed practice. She returned from Ontario in 1999 and continued working in mixed practice for Fundy Vets until 2009, when she switched her focus to small animal practice.

Petra and husband Kris share their home with son Lucas and two cats, Oscar and Joey.
Being a mom to an active little boy takes up most of Petra's spare time, but she also enjoys baking and her flower gardens in the summer time.

You'll see her at both the Truro and Shubenacadie locations working with a variety of species. In her spare time Emma enjoys skiing, hiking, travelling, and spending time with her partner Sid and their dog Arthur.

In her off time, Sherry can be found taking Gideon to the park or doing downward dog in her yoga class. She also enjoys slow pitch softball and reading. Travelling with John is her new passion.

Melissa Yorke- RVT

Melissa is a Truro-area native, who is happy to be back working in her home town after a few years working for an alternative veterinary practice in Dartmouth, NS. With extensive training and experience in canine physical rehabilitation, she can often be found talking with clients about how to keep their pet’s up and moving pain-free!

When not at work, Melissa can be found playing with her horse, Sox; walking her dogs, Indy, Rooper and Diesel, or helping her boyfriend with their tidal bore rafting business (Bàra Whitewater Rafting). With two cats at home, and two step-daughters, there is rarely a dull moment!

Dr. Donna Spracklin, DVM, DipLAM - Truro ( Retired )

Donna grew up in Halifax, moving on to graduate from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1974, and the Ontario Veterinary College in 1978.  She practiced first in Ottawa and Halifax before marrying, and settled in Shubenacadie with Fundy Veterinarians in 1982.  She is now an empty nester (2 sons grownup! wow) and makes Truro home with her husband Paul, a golden retriever Lily, and 2 cats Rosie and Frank. Her early years involved mixed practice but today she works with dogs, cats and the many other small mammal species kept as pets, potbellied pigs being included!  Her hobbies include hiking and tennis.

We wish Donna all the best in her new chapter of her life. Thank you from all of us for your 32 years of dedication and passion towards veterinary medicine. Congratulations on her retirement.
