Dr. Ed MacAulay, DVM - Truro

Ed grew up on a mixed farm in Colchester County and competed school at Central Colchester High School in Onslow. He attended University of Guelph and obtained his DVM degree from Ontario Veterinary College. He and his brother Al founded Fundy Veterinarians in 1971 in Shubenacadie. Ed and his wife Joan moved to Murray Siding when the practice acquired Truro Animal Hospital from Dr. Nettleton in 1978. Mixed practice has always been Ed's scope of interest, working with all species including domestic livestock, equine and pets.
Ed and Joan raised their three daughters on their hobby farm with a variety of animals and pets. The grandchildren, Emma, Becca, Alex and Lauren are now frequent visitors. Other interests include gardening, outdoor activities and camping.

Dr. Frank Schenkels, DVM - Shubenacadie

Frank lives in Fort Ellis with his wife Luanne, their sons Aiden and Jared, and daughter Marika. Frank grew up on a dairy farm near Miramichi, New Brunswick. He graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 1986 and practiced briefly in Peterborough, Ontario before being enticed back to Nova Scotia. He has been with Fundy Vets since 1987 and practicing large animal medicine since then with a major interest in dairy practice. Frank graduated from the Dairy Health Management Certificate Program in 1994. He is a member of American Association of Bovine Practitioners, Atlantic Bovine Practitioners Association and the National Mastitis Council. In his free time Frank enjoys sailing, skiing, soccer and farming.

Dr. Trevor Lawson, DVM, MSc, BSc (Agr.)

Originally from New Brunswick, Trevor first moved to Nova Scotia in 1994 to attend the NSAC where he met his wife Tammy. After several years living in Manitoba and Prince Edward Island, Trevor and Tammy returned to Nova Scotia in 2005 and reside in Carroll's Corner with their son Isaac, daughter Charlotte and a small herd of animals. Trevor is a graduate of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, the University of Manitoba and the Atlantic Veterinary College. Trevor is Past President of the Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association, and is a member of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association Animal Welfare Committee and the Canadian Veterinary Reserve. Trevor's practice is focused on large animal, in particular horses and cattle.

Dr. Wilma Schenkels, DVM - Truro

Wilma grew up on a dairy farm near Miramichi, New Brunswick.  She attended Nova Scotia Agricultural College before graduating from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 1991. She started her career in mixed animal practice in Ontario and Antigonish, Nova Scotia. In 1994 she married Ed Macmillan and moved to Truro to join the staff at Fundy Veterinarians. Wilma works as a large animal veterinarian with an interest in dairy production medicine. She is involved in the Atlantic Bovine Practitioners  Association and the Canadian Association of Bovine Veterinarians.
Wilma currently divides her time between work and her four children who keep her busy both as chauffeur and coach for the various activities they are involved in. 

Dr. Alexander Burrows, DVM 

Alexander lives in Beaver Brook with his fiance Lacey, near the dairy farm he grew up on.  He attended Nova Scotia Agricultural College before moving on to the Atlantic Veterinary College, graduating in 2014.  He began practicing in southwestern Ontario, before returning to Nova Scotia to join Fundy Vets.  Alexander's focus is large animal medicine, with particular interests in embryo transfer and dairy medicine.  In his spare time, Alexander enjoys gardening, baking and working on the family farm.

Dr. Melissa McMullin DVM

Melissa grew up in Halifax County and spent all of her free time riding and working with horses. She attended the Nova Scotia Agricultural College before obtaining her DVM from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2012. After spending three and a half years working at a mixed animal practice in Brandon, Manitoba, she moved home to Nova Scotia in 2016 with her husband, Mark, and their Jack Russell Terrier, Prairie, to join the Fundy Veterinarians team. Melissa loves spending her days working with equine and companion animals, and in her free time, she enjoys riding, snowboarding, hiking and practicing agility with Prairie.
