Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make an appointment?

Phone (Truro) (902) 895-8195, or (Shubenacadie) (902) 758-3180 during regular hours to book a morning, afternoon or evening appointment, or use the email system for non urgent matters. You can also book online using the button at the top of this page.

Are appointments needed?

We will do our best to accommodate you, but phoning ahead may prevent disappointment. We offer morning, afternoon or evening appointments.

What if my pet has an emergency?

Truro: (902) 895-8195

Shubenacadie: (902) 758-3180

During regular hours, please bring your pet to our animal hospital as soon as possible. If feasible, we kindly ask that you call ahead so we can assist with triaging your emergency and determine the best course of action based on your situation, which may include referring you to our trusted emergency partners.

After regular hours, when you call Fundy Veterinarians, a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) is available to triage your situation and guide you to the most appropriate next step—whether that means providing immediate advice or referring you to one of our trusted emergency partners. We’re here for you and your pet 24/7.

Do I need a leash for my dog?

Yes, it is the only safe way to control a dog in a veterinary hospital, but if you have forgotten yours, we have a supply on hand.

What about my cat?

Most people bring them in pet caddies, but a harness and leash will work as well. Carrying them in arms only can result in a lost cat between car and office, and/or a scratched pet parent.

What are my payment options?

Cash, debit, Visa, Mastercard, or Petcard are accepted. (Ask about "Pet CARD", a credit card for animal medical use only) Payment is due when services are rendered.
