Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make an appointment?

Phone (Truro) 902-895-8195, or (Shubenacadie) 902-758-3180 during regular hours to book a morning, afternoon or evening appointment, or use the email system for non urgent matters. You can also book online using the button at the top of this page.

Are appointments needed?

We will do our best to accommodate you, but phoning ahead may prevent disappointment. We offer morning, afternoon or evening appointments.

What if my pet has an emergency?

Phone (Truro) 902 895-8195 or (Shubenacadie) 902 758-3180.

During regular hours please bring your pet to our animal hospital as soon as possible, but if feasible please phone ahead so that we can better care for your pet on arrival. After our regular hours we share on call services with our colleagues in Truro, so PLEASE PHONE our regular phone number, it is answered 24 hours a day and you will be directed to the veterinarian on call.

Elective surgery: Spays, neuters, and dentistries are scheduled for weekday mornings. Pets booked for elective surgery are dropped off around 8:30AM the morning of their surgery; they are usually ready to go home after 4PM the same day.

Do I need a leash for my dog?

Yes, it is the only safe way to control a dog in a veterinary hospital, but if you have forgotten yours, we have a supply on hand.

What about my cat?

Most people bring them in pet caddies, but a harness and leash will work as well. Carrying them in arms only can result in a lost cat between car and office, and/or a scratched pet parent.

What are my payment options?

Cash, debit, Visa, Mastercard, or Petcard are accepted. (Ask about "Pet CARD", a credit card for animal medical use only) Payment is due when services are rendered.
