Dr. Frank Schenkels

Frank has been involved with cows and horses since he was very young, having grown up on a dairy farm near Miramichi NB. He learned how to milk cows, feed calves and ride the horse to get the cows home from the pasture. He is old enough to have graduated from the Ontario Vet College but young enough to be passionate about the dairy industry: from providing traditional and new vet services, advising dairy clients on a variety of topics, to teaching the next generation of dairy producers. Frank is involved in many professional vet associations and is past president of the Canadian Association of Bovine Practitioners and has been awarded the prestigious AABP Large Animal Practitioner of the Year Award.

Frank lives near Brookfield, NS with his wife, Luanne. Frank likes to stay active and he continues to try to keep up with his three children on the ski hill and now has to keep up with his middle child in the practice of veterinary medicine, as Jared began his studies at Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) in 2018. Aiden, the oldest, lives in Ontario and when he isn’t cooking, cycling or skiing, works as a nuclear engineer. The youngest, Marika, began her studies at St. Andrews University in Scotland in 2019. She attributes her experiences with her dad to her interest in human medicine.
